Large Flea Market (Flohmarkt) in Rheinaue, Bonn

On the former premises of the Bundesgartenschau (horticultural show), a landscape of art and crafts, jumble and second-hand goods stretches over more than 2 1/2 miles on the third Saturday of every month and welcomes as many as 200,000 visitors a year.
Rhine in Flames

1 to 3 May 2026
Red Bengal Fire illuminates the banks and touristic sights between Linz and Bonn with festive light. Mountains and castles take on a magical air, the landscape is bathed in romance. A fleet of around 60 illuminated boats sails from Linz back to Bonn, past five firework displays, with a spectacular synchronised music and firework extravaganza as the final crowning glory.
17th Balloon Festival Bonn

12 to 14 June 2026
Around 30 balloon teams and airships from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands are expected to take part in the Balloon Festival. Along with balloon rides over Rheinaue, there will also be a chance to see what the balloons look like on the inside. The traditional night glow that takes place in the "Blumenwiese" flower meadow on Saturday evening is a sight not to be missed.
Bonn Beer Festival

24 to 26 July 2026
This year will be the 27th Beer Festival in Rheinaue, Bonn. With more than 200,000 visitors, it counts among Germany's largest beer festivals. Here, you have the opportunity to taste more than 700 beers from all over the world. Furthermore, this year again offers a diverse programme of performances and live music.
Christmas market in Bonn
20 November to 23 December 2026
The Bonn Christmas Market nestles between atmospherically lit façades and against a festive backdrop on Muensterplatz, Bottlerplatz and Friedensplatz, Vivatsgasse, Windeckstrasse and Poststrasse. The majority of the more than 170 stalls traditionally offer a wide range of gift ideas in the run-up to Christmas. You can buy cribs, handicrafts, pottery, jewellery, items made of wood, Advent and Christmas accessories, leatherware and textiles and beeswax candles straight from the beekeeper. There are also plenty of food and drink options.
